Certificate III in Individual Support


Course Description:

This Nationally Recognised qualification prepares you for work with the elderly in the community or a residential setting as a personal care worker or assistant.

Delivered in conjunction with The Gordon, participants will complete a total of 17 units over a 26-week period. This includes 13 units from the Certificate III and 4 units from Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

During the course you will participate in a minimum of 120 hours of placement in a real workplace in three blocks. Placement will be organised by The Gordon.

All units have been selected and your learning program designed so that on successful completion of your studies and placement, you will be eligible for a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing).

CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people

CHCCCS025 Support relationships with carers & families

HLTAAP001 Recognise health body systems

CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia

CHCHCS001 Provide home & community support services

Four extra units from the Certificate IV in Ageing Support are available to broaden employment opportunities. Enrollment in these are optional:

CHCPAL001 Deliver care services using a palliative approach
HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medications

HLTAID003 Provide first aid

HLTFSE001 Follow basic food safety practices
